Former BYN Mellon Exec Sentenced for Child Porn

A former BNY Mellon employee has been sentenced to seven years on probation after he pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Wednesday that 45-year-old Duane Amity of Monroeville was also ordered to register as a sex offender for 15 years. Amity had been vice president of computer network security for the company. BNY Mellon spokesman Ron Gruendl says Amity has not been an employee there since late April.

Police say they found more than 3,000 files they considered to be pornographic on Amity' home computer, according to a criminal complaint.

Amity told investigators he's been viewing the images for about 10 years and attributes that to his molestation as a child. He previously called the charges an opportunity to seek counseling.
