Foggy Morning, Rainy Afternoon Affects Philly Travel

Patchy fog affected visibility across the Delaware Valley Thursday morning causing nearly 90 minute delays at the Philadelphia International Airport.

The fog will hang around until about noon as temperatures climb to a high near 70 degrees. The National Weather Service reported visibility reduced to a half mile or less for parts of South Jersey until 8 a.m., making it difficult for drivers during the start of the AM commute.

Some local police agencies warned drivers to take caution while traveling.

In Philadelphia, the airport was experiencing delays.

Some rain could fall before 10 a.m. and a thunderstorm is likely before 1 p.m. The chance of thunderstorms are greatest at the Shore for the afternoon, but by nightfall the downpours will come through the greater Philly metro area around 9 p.m.

The same front that is bringing the wet weather will also push cold air into the region. Expect temperatures to drop to about 40 degrees overnight. The rain will stick around Friday as we reach highs in the low 50s.

The weekend will be chilly -- temps won't get out of the 40s -- before a warming trend starts next week.
