Firefighter Suffers Heart Attack While Fighting Blaze

The firefighter collapsed while battling the S Philly house fire.

A firefighter is in the hospital after collapsing while fighting a fire at a home in South Philadelphia, according to authorities.
 
Deputy Commissioner Ernest Hargett tells NBC Philadelphia that the 42-year-old Mike Brady was battling a blaze at a home on the 1800 block of South Taylor Street around 5:45 a.m. About an hour after arriving at the scene, he began complaining of chest pain.

He collapse moments later from a minor heart attack, Hargett says.

The victim was rushed to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital where he is stable and that he is sitting up and speaking.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.
