A firefighter was rescued Sunday after he fell through the floor of a Berks County store that caught fire.
The fire began at “The Affordability Shop,” a consignment shop located on the 15000 block of Kutztown Road in Maxatawny.
A Kutztown firefighter who responded to the scene was hurt after he fell through a floor inside the 2 ½ story building. He was rescued by the Rapid Intervention Team and is expected to be okay.
The store was closed during the fire due to the weather and no one else was hurt.
The fire damaged several rooms on the first floor of the store, which was built in 1868. Officials continue to investigate the cause.
