Fired Headmaster Changed Name to Hide Past: Diocese

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie says a man fired as headmaster of a central Pennsylvania school had legally changed his name to hide his controversial past, and deleted information from his resume about his previous firing from a Catholic school in New York.
 
Samuel Signorino, the director of Catholic schools, tells The Associated Press that the man formerly known as Frank Borzellieri had legally changed his name by the time he was hired in December at DuBois Area Catholic School, a K-12 institution about 75 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. By that time, his legal name was Mario Bella.
 
Signorino says a school employee dug up information about Bella's past on the internet, and he was terminated after it was learned he was fired in 2011 by the Archdiocese of New York for writings that diocese deemed racist.
