Fire Marshal Rules Allentown Fires as Arson

Fires that erupted at three vacant houses in Allentown within the span of about a day have been ruled arsons.

The first blaze began after midnight Wednesday. It ended up damaging six rowhouses and displacing two families.

City Fire Marshal Fred Scheier tells The Morning Call of Allentown that another fire that broke out about four hours later was also set intentionally.

Authorities say arson was the cause of flames at a third vacant house around 3 a.m. Thursday.

Scheier said Friday that the fire department has turned over its findings to city police detectives.
