Man Survives 2010 Fire, Dies in Second Fire

Erik Watson died Tuesday morning in a house fire in Cape May, N.J. In December 2010, he survived another fire at a historic inn

A fire in the rear cottage of a home in Cape May killed Erik Watson Tuesday morning.

Erik Watson, 54, died early Tuesday after a house fire in the 1200 block of Washington Street in Cape May, N.J.

Investigators say the fire appears accidental and may have started in the kitchen area.

In December 2010, Watson survived a fire at the Merion Inn, a 125-year-old restaurant in Cape May. He was unconscious when firefighters pulled him out of an apartment above the inn, that is owned by his family.

Watson's sister and her boyfriend escaped that fire unharmed.
