Fire fighters called to a West Philadelphia home Wednesday afternoon found more than smoke and flames, they came across an apparent marijuana growing operation, according to Philadelphia Police.
A fire was reported at the home on Poplar Street near 40th just before 4 p.m.
According to Lt. John Walker of the Southwest Detective Division, there were at least 100 marijuana plants in the house.
A man in the home when fire fighters arrived ran from the scene. Police are working to identify him.
