Fire Co. President, Wife Found Dead Inside Home

New Castle County police are investigating the death of a husband and wife, found inside their home with gunshot wounds

A husband and wife were found dead inside their home in Rutledge this morning. New Castle County police say they both had gunshot wounds to their upper body and are investigating the circumstances surrounding their death.

The man is identified as Jack Troian, 41, who was the president of the Christiana Fire Company.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of human life which has occurred. At this time we are focusing on supporting the families of those involved and the large family that is the membership of the Christiana Fire Company," said Fire Chief Richard Perillo in an afternoon statement.

Police say just after 8:00 a.m., emergency personnel were called to the 100 block of Sweetbay Lane after a man called to report a shooting. When officers arrived, they heard a single gunshot come from the home.

When SWAT officers entered the house, they found Troian and his wife dead inside.

Their bodies have been turned over to the Delaware State Medical Examiner's office.

"The County Police are actively investigating this incident and in the interest of fairness and a comprehensive investigation, the Christiana Fire Co. will not comment on any aspects of that investigation," said Chief Perillo.
