Man Charged in Philly Woman's Murder

Overbrook man accused of stabbing and shooting a woman in her West Philly apartment

An Overbrook man was charged Tuesday for stabbing and shooting a woman inside her West Philadelphia home soon after she celebrated her father's birthday.

Brandon Timmons, 22, is charged with murder and related offenses. He's accused of killing Valerie Angeline, 31, inside her apartment on N 64th Street. Angeline's body was discovered by her friend on Saturday.

Investigators say she suffered multiple stab wounds to her neck and chest as well as a gunshot wound to the head.

On Monday Police announced they had made an arrest in her murder and are calling it a domestic situation. It's still not clear the relationship between Timmons, who is from the 6100 block of W Columbia Avenue, and Angeline.

On Friday, the victim spent time with her father, Domenic Angeline Sr. of Bryn Mawr, to celebrate his 59th birthday.

β€œIt was a great night,” said Angeline Sr. β€œI had no idea it would be the last time I would see my daughter.”

Family and friends of Angeline say she was a Radnor High School graduate who held various waitressing jobs and recently completed accounting and paralegal courses. She cared for her father while he was in the hospital after suffering a stroke. She also planned on helping her parents avoid foreclosure.

β€œShe handed me a brand new wallet,” said Angeline Sr. β€œShe said β€˜I wish I had it full of money for you.’ I said β€˜Honey, I know you do. The fact you gave it to me and you love me, is all that counts.’”
