Father, Son Gunned Down in Frankford

Police are investigating a shooting that killed a 24-year-old man and sent his father to the hospital.

A man is dead and his father is recovering following a shooting in the Frankford section of the city Sunday night.

Police say the shooting happened around 10:30 on the 1200-block of Adams Avenue.

A family member tells NBC10 that two black men in their 20s asked 24-year-old Edward Pagan for a cigarette. When he informed the suspects that he couldn't give them one, an argument ensued, the family member says. It was then, according to family, that one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Pagan and his 49-year-old father, Victor Guzman.

Police say Guzman, an off-duty corrections officer, was shot in the wrist and taken to Temple University Hospital. He was treated and released. His son was shot in the chest and also taken to Temple Hospital where he died just after midnight, according to authorities.

"It's a horrific thing for anyone to get murdered, shot down...and a young man, he was only 24 years old. I'm praying for him, and this community," one neighbor tells NBC10's Marisa Brahney.

Police are investigating the shooting and are urging anyone with information to call 911.
