State police say a man accidentally shot his 14-year-old son in the face while they were hunting deer in southern New Jersey.
The boy was being treated at a hospital, but his wound was not considered life-threatening. Authorities say the teen and his father live in Greenwich Township, but their names were not disclosed.
The South Jersey Times reports the father was apparently hunting with a 12-gauge shotgun when he shot the boy around 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the Cumberland County community of Stow Creek Township. The father was shooting at a deer, and it wasn't clear how the son was struck instead.
The teen was hit under the eye by a single pellet of buckshot that exited through his cheek.
Authorities say the father won't face criminal charges.
