Police arrested a man Thursday who allegedly shot a 22-year-old Northeast bartender while allegedly showing off his gun.

Michael Elliot, 25, of the 6100 block of Hegerman Street is accused of shooting Rachel Marcelis early Wednesday morning outside of Fat Pete’s Bar in Northeast Philadelphia. He was showing off his gun to Marcelis around 2 a.m. when it allegedly went off, said police.

Marcelis worked as a bartender at Fat Pete’s on the corner of Torresdale Avenue and Devereaux Street.

Elliot is charged with murder and other offenses.

Friend s had gathered near the bar Wednesday night to remember Marcelis.

Marcelis recently received her teaching license and had plans to become a kindergarten teacher in the fall. That dream was cut short.
