Alleged Financial Misconduct Costs CHOP Exec His Job

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has announced Friday the removal of Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Roosevelt Hairston, Jr.

Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Steven Altschuler, made the choice to terminate Hairston after an internal investigation revealed alleged financial irregularities.

The Board of Trustees confirmed Hairston's termination due to violation of CHOP's employment policies and code of ethical conduct but stresses it has nothing to do with CHOP's services.

"As we address this issue, we remain focused on fulfilling our mission of providing excellent care to our patients and families." said Dr. Altschuler.

Jeffrey D. Kahn has been named Acting General Counsel and the issue has been sent to the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pa.
