Family of 4-Year-Old Hit-&-Run Victim Remember Boy, Fellow Victim

Friends and family gathered at a West Philadelphia church Saturday, grief-stricken over the loss of 4-year-old Latif Wilson, who was killed in a hit-&-run last Monday night in Philadelphia's Kingsessing section.

Wilson was playing with his siblings outside their home on the 1600 block of South 57th St. when he was hit. then run over, by a black Ford Edge -- driven by a woman -- around 6:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

The driver fled the scene, leaving devastation in her wake.

"She was just crying for the baby," witness Raysa Cespezes said of the boy's mother who rushed to her son "It was horrible. Something I would never want anybody to go through."

The SUV police believe was used in the deadly hit-&-run was recovered the next day in an underground parking garage at LOVE Park after its owner contacted an attorney, Michael Diamondstein, who then called police.

An arrest in the deadly accident has yet to be made, although the woman was expected to turn herself in earlier this week.

Family members voiced their frustration regarding the driver during Saturday's ceremony.

"She just needs to turn herself in. She needs to stop negotiating." said the victim's grandmother, Monique Lockwood.

The young victim's family also used Saturday's service to express support for another young victim of a hit-&-run, 2-year-old David Alicea Jr.

Alicea and his mother, Josephine Rivera, were hit by a car that fled the scene in Kensington less than an hour after Wilson was killed. Alicea died three days later.

Wilson's family plan on sending flowers to Rivera who was released from the hospital following her son's death.

"We are in this together," said Carmen Scott, Wilson's aunt. "It happened on the same day. We're in this together so we want to support one another."
