‘Fake' Doctor Jailed in Hotel Stay Scheme: Police

Pennsylvania State Police say a Michigan man has been jailed on charges he stayed at a posh southwestern Pennsylvania resort by pretending to be a doctor.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports 41-year-old Jeffrey Cochran, of Scottville, Michigan, was arraigned Wednesday on theft charges stemming from his stay from May 15 to 28 at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.

Cochran is also wanted by Lincoln, Nebraska authorities, where he's also accused of pretending to be a doctor to obtain free lodging at a hotel for a 47-day stay that began last Dec. 26.

State police say Cochran was arrested at his mother's graveside funeral service on Nov. 12 in Jamestown, Michigan.

Cochran was extradited to Pennsylvania, where was arraigned and ordered to the Fayette County jail pending a preliminary hearing Dec. 15.

Court records don't list a defense attorney.
