An explosion and small fire is under investigation at a chemical manufacturing plant in Elsmere, Delaware.

Delaware State Police confirm to NBC10 that explosion happened at Homalite on Brookside Drive just after 8 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters arrived to find crumbled pieces of debris outside the building and authorities say they did not enter because of the severe damage to the building.

Police say a small fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured.

The building has been condemned, according to the police, pending an inspection.

The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the explosion.
