Ex-Sportscaster to Be Released From Jail

Former Philadelphia television sportscaster Don Tollefson is to be released from jail this week and sent to a treatment facility.

A Bucks County judge reduced Tollefson's bail Wednesday to zero. Prosecutor Ryan Hyde said this was done so Tollefson could enter a 30-day drug and alcohol treatment program.

Tollefson has been charged in the alleged theft of more than $100,000 meant to go to charitable organizations.

Prosecutors allege that the 61-year-old former sportscaster fraudulently solicited money for charities including the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania and the Salvation Army and then misappropriated the funds, victimizing more than 100 people.

Tollefson's attorney, Michael McGovern, says his client is being released from prison on the condition that he goes directly to a treatment facility.
