Ex-Port Authority Head Ends Suit Over Ethics Probe

The former chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has dropped his lawsuit against New Jersey's state ethics commission.

Court documents show David Samson filed paperwork dropping the suit in U.S. District Court on Wednesday. His decision was first reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Phone calls to Samson's lawyers were not returned Friday.

New Jersey State Ethics Commission legal specialist Casey Woods confirmed the suit was dropped, but declined further comment because the investigation is open.

Samson claimed the commission had no jurisdiction, since the authority is governed by laws enacted by both states.

Samson stepped down this year amid questions about whether he used the post to help his law firm's clients. The New Jersey Working Families Alliance had asked the commission for an investigation.
