Ex-College Football Player Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery

A former University of Pittsburgh football player has pleaded guilty to robbing a bank.

On Tuesday 26-year-old Jovani Chappel pleaded guilty to the August 2013 robbery in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood. He was sentenced to one to two years in jail plus three years of probation.

Police say a witness saw the license plate of the robber and a SWAT team later surrounded the house of Chappel's girlfriend, and he was later found on a nearby porch and arrested.

Chappel graduated in 2010 after playing in 37 games over four years as a defensive back. He made 123 tackles and two interceptions.
