Ex-Care Co. Employee Testifies in Starvation Death Case

Witness says it was "just a matter of time" before one of the care company's clients died.

A former private care company administrator testifying in the trial of three people stemming from the starvation death of a disabled teen inside a Philadelphia apartment says it was "just a matter of time" before one of her company's clients died.

Manuelita Buenaflor testified Tuesday as prosecutors wrapped up their cases against two child welfare workers and the father of 14-year-old Danieal Kelly.

Kelly starved to death in 2006, her body covered in maggot-infested bed sores. She weighed 42 pounds.

Buenaflor says workers at private contractor MultiEthnic Behavioral Health Inc. routinely faked home visits and filed phony case notes.

Also on trial are MultiEthnic co-founder Mickal Kamuvaka and former Department of Human Services employee Dana Poindexter.

The trial continues Wednesday.
