Ex-Abortion Doc to Be Sentenced for Drug Charges

A Philadelphia doctor already serving life in prison for performing rogue abortions is in court to be sentenced for distributing painkillers.

Dr. Kermit Gosnell is serving life without parole after a jury found he killed three babies born alive.

That case grew out of complaints that he ran a lucrative ``pill mill'' at his West Philadelphia clinic.

Gosnell pleaded guilty in July after the murder trial to charges that he illegally distributed OxyContin and other painkillers.

Gosnell said in court Monday that he sent U.S. District Judge Cynthia Rufe a seven-page response to his presentencing report.

Rufe says the letter ``doesn't necessarily reconcile with his guilty plea.''

Defense lawyer Jack McMahon says Gosnell objects to allegations not proven in the state murder trial.
