Elderly Woman, Son Charged With Dealing Heroin, Cocaine

A 73-year-old woman and her son have been charged with dealing heroin and cocaine out of their Millsboro home.

State police say Margarita Ruiz and her 41-year-old son, Rolando Ruiz, were arrested on Friday after a three-month investigation.

Police executed a search warrant at the home and seized more than 1,000 small bags of heroin, with a street value of about $10,000. They also seized cocaine and more than $8,100 in suspected drug money.

Both have been charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin and cocaine, among other offenses. Margarita Ruiz was released after posting $20,000 bond, while Rolando Ruiz is being held on $94,000 bond.

A third person, 25-year-old Shannon Irving, was also arrested at the home. She's charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
