The woman was unloading groceries when she was attacked, police said.

An 89-year-old woman was punched and robbed as she was loading groceries into her car at a supermarket parking lot in Wilmington last night, Delaware State Police said.

It happened about 7:15 at the Pathmark on Lancaster Pike. Police say a man ran up to the woman and punched her in the head, knocking her to the ground.

The robber took the woman's waist pack, which contained money and credit cards, from the front seat of her car and fled.

The woman was treated for minor injuries and released at a local hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Robbery Unit at Troop 2 at 302-834-2630 ext. 6.
