Elderly Man to Serve Time for Murdering His Wife

80-year-old sent to prison after he "lost it" and killed his wife.

An 80-year-old man will serve up to 15 years in jail for the January murder of his 75-year-old wife.

On Tuesday Rudi Adolph Koos was found guilty of third degree murder in the strangulation death of his wife, Waltrud, in their apartment in Souderton.

Koos told police he accused his wife of cheating and she laughed at him. He said that led to a fight and he "lost it" and choked her.

The incident allegedly happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Montco D.A. Risa Vetri-Ferman said. He then called a friend in Indiana to admit to the murder before calling 9-1-1, authorities said.

Officers soon arrived and arrested him. Police say his wife's body was on the kitchen floor.

Police said the couple lived in the apartment since they immigrated from East Germany in 1957.

Authorities say there's no evidence that the woman had cheated.
