Early Morning Shooting Leaves Man Dead, Woman Hurt in Camden

A Shot Spotter alert led police in Camden to discover a man and a woman who were shot in the early hours of Saturday morning.

City officials said Shot Spotter led police to gunshots in the area of Rose Street near Mechanic about 4:45 a.m. When they arrived there, they found the two shooting victims, 31-year-old Javan Boyd and 28-year-old Lashana Davis, about a block and a half away, on Lansdowne Avenue near Rose Street, police said.

Boyd succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 6:33 a.m. at Cooper University Hospital, police said. Davis remained hospitalized Saturday afternoon.

Police said an investigation into the fatal double shooting is ongoing and asked that anyone with information contact detectives. Tips can be sent to tipsgroup@ccprosecutor.org.
