Bucks County EMT Dies on Duty

Morrisville medic suffers apparent heart attack while on duty. He was 24.

A Bucks County ambulance squad is mourning the death of one of their own who shockingly died of an apparent heart attack while on duty Monday.

Morrisville Ambulance Squad EMT Kevin Maffettone was found unconscious inside the squad’s headquarters around 7:20 a.m. Monday, as first reported by the Bucks County Courier-Times.

Maffettone, who was just 24 years old, was a recent graduate of the squad’s EMT class. He also volunteered with the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad, according to the Courier Times.

NBC10 has spoken to the ambulance squad and we are waiting on a photo of Maffettone.

The Courier Times reports that this is the second time in about two years that a Bucks County ambulance worker died from a heart attack. In 2010, NBC10 reported on when Bensalem Rescue Squad medic Dan McIntosh died of a heart attack while he was chasing down a mentally-unstable man.

A memorial fund is set up for McIntosh. The fund helps students pursuing an education in criminal justice and nursing.
