E. Coli Bacteria Found in Winslow Township Water Supply

Winslow Township residents are advised to boil their water or use bottled water.

Winslow Township announced that their water supply is contaminated with E. Coli bacteria.

The bacteria can make you sick and is extremely harmful for those with weakened immune systems.

Township residents should boil their water for three minutes and let it cool or use bottled water before drinking it, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food.

E. Coli indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal waste. The waste can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches and other symptoms.

The town is isolating wells, increasing chlorine disinfection and flushing water mains in order to solve the problem.

The town will notify residents once the water is decontaminated, which should take several days.
