Drunk Carjacks Police Radio

Intoxicated man radios cops from empty police cruiser

George Arkins got more than he bargained for when he went out for a drink on Monday night. He got arrested and was charged with drug and paraphernalia possession, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

But it’s what he did to get arrested that makes this story so interesting.

The 44-year-old Glenolden man was walking home from Dino’s bar on MacDade Blvd. early Tuesday morning when he noticed an empty police cruiser, jumped in and began talking on the radio, Glenolden Police Chief Michael Donohue told the Daily News.

”Hello, hello, I’m inside a Glenolden police car with nobody around,” said Arkins.

Genius.

Arkins was instructed – via radio – to stop what he was doing, but to no avail. He even went as far as to provide authorities with his personal information.

Upon returning to his car, the officer discovered Arkins waiting near it with his hands up.
