Drug-Selling Doc Admits to Daily Heroin Use

A federal judge says a Delaware doctor charged with illegally selling drugs on the underground website Silk Road has a serious drug habit herself.

In ordering gynecologist Dr. Olivia Bolles to remain in custody pending trial, the judge noted that Bolles reported using two bags of heroin daily for the past six months, smoking marijuana daily and using cocaine weekly.

The judge says Bolles' drug use and access to drugs as a doctor makes her a danger to the community.

According to court documents, Bolles has confessed to conduct described in a criminal complaint against her.

The detention order also says Bolles struggled with depression and attempted suicide as a teenager, and that she lived in foster care for two years because of alleged abuse while living with her parents.

Bolles and her live-in partner, Dr. Alexandra Gold, were arrested in November near their Newark, Del. home.

The two gynecologists face federal charges for allegedly selling illegal drugs on the underground website known as Silk Road.

The women were charged after federal undercover agents in Florida tracked shipments of drugs bought on the website to Delaware.
