Driving Hunger Away 1 Serving at a Time

Lend a hand to Philabundance to prevent hunger in our area

It’s easy to quote the phrase “waste not, want not,” but how often do we really stop and see the meaning?

From oversized portions at restaurants to throwing out refrigerated goods -- we can quickly loose sight of the value in each bite.

Well, Philabundance the largest hunger relief organization in the Delaware Valley, has made it their mission to “waste not” by ending hunger one serving at a time.

Donations are down 20 percent from last year, 38 percent from the year before and your help is needed to get food to the needy.

“Approximately 27 percent of the food produced in the U.S. goes to waste each year while millions of people go hungry,” according to Philabundance.org. “Philabundance works to change this contradiction.”

Whether you can lend a hand by volunteering, donating food or providing support financially -- you’ll be serving more than 900,000 low-income residents at risk for chronic hunger and malnutrition in the Delaware Valley.

One organization that's doing its part to help feed the hunger is Citizens Bank. They've donated $25,000 to the cause.
