A Delaware County family was able to escape the blaze that tore through their house's basement early Thursday morning, but their pet was not.
Firefighters responded to reports of smoke and flames on the 100 block of East Rively Avenue, Aldan around 1:50 a.m., according to officials.
Smoke filled the home before crews were able to get the fire under control.
No one suffered any injuries in the blaze.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
