A popular Philadelphia jewelry store closed its doors Sunday. Robbins Diamonds closed their stores on 8th and Walnut Street.
Owners say they were forced to close their doors as a result of the economy.
The company released the following statement:
Like a lot of folks, we've had to tighten our belts lately. As a part of that, we've had to close our Philly and Allentown locations. We've had a blast over the years serving our customers there, so we're sad to be leaving. But here's the really good news: by tightening things up and consolidating our efforts, we've created a truly cool and different way to shop for diamonds and engagement rings at our Delaware store. It's less than a half hour past the Philly airport, and with self-serve shopping and no sales tax, we think its worth the drive.
Their only remaining store in the area will be in Newark, Delaware where there is no sales tax.
