Despite Alleged Assault, DeGraw Will Perform at Musikfest

DeGraw canceled two shows this week, but will return to the stage on Sunday.

Gavin DeGraw will perform at Bethlehem’s Musikfest this weekend despite suffering injuries from an alleged assault in New York City this past weekend.

On Monday, DeGraw told police he was assaulted after leaving a New York City restaurant. Police say the details were still sketchy as the “I Don’t Want to Be” singer did not initially report the incident to police. In fact, they were told about the incident after recieving a call from the Bellevue Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

The Morning Call reports that DeGraw suffered a concussion, broken nose, black eyes, cuts and bruises when he was attacked and beaten, and then he was hit by a cab as he tried to escape, but he was not seriously hurt.

The attack forced the 34-year-old singer to cancel two appearances in New York and one in Massachusetts scheduled for later this week. DeGraw’s spokesman Mark Demko told the Morning Call that the singer will return to the stage to perform as the opening act for Train on Musikfest's Steel Stage at 7 p.m. Sunday.

DeGraw is also scheduled to play at the Hershey Park Pavillion Monday night.
