Deputy Falls Through Ceiling During Search

A deputy in south-central Pennsylvania was injured after falling through the ceiling during an attic search for a man who didn't show up for a weekend jail program.

The Chambersburg Public Opinion reported Friday that the deputy entered the attic after a police dog alerted searchers to a closet that hid the crawl space. But he lost his footing on a floor joist and fell through the ceiling and into the room below.

Three other deputies found the man hiding in loose insulation and arrested him.

The injured deputy, who wasn't identified, was released after treatment at a nearby hospital.
