Demolition Begins for Pennsylvania Homes With Sinkholes

Demolition has begun on six Pennsylvania homes that have sat empty since massive sinkholes opened up in 2013.

Palmyra officials say the demolition got underway Monday morning and they had been working with state and federal agencies to find a solution to the three condemned duplexes. Palmyra is a borough in Lebanon County, east of Harrisburg.

Borough Manager Roger Powl tells WTHM-TV that officials decided to take out a $3 million loan to get the work started.

Officials hope to begin repaving the street next month. The project is expected to take a few months.
