Delco Baby Ingested Heroin Before He Died: Cops

Collingdale Police confirm to NBC10 that 11-month-old Niccolo Varner died after ingesting heroin

Collingdale Police will hold a press conference Friday morning to discuss details surrounding the death of 11-month-old Niccolo Varner

The press conference will be held at 10 a.m. at the Collingdale Police Station.

Police say Varner ingested heroin before his July 15 death.

The little boy died at the hospital after paramedics were called to his home on Lincoln Avenue in Collingdale for a baby in respiratory distress. Police say EMS workers performed CPR on the boy, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Niccolo's parents were home at the time. His mom, Christine Rivero, was detained for possession of drug paraphernalia and police interviewed her about the circumstances surrounding her son's death.
