Another Arrest in Wawa Brawl

Delaware State Police announced the arrest Monday of a third man in connection to a large fight that broke out at inside a Wawa store in Lewes last week.

Troopers say they picked up Brandon Legrand, of Greenwood, Thursday night on a parole violation. Legrand allegedly helped another man flee from a trooper trying to make an arrest inside the Wawa on Dartmouth Road in Millsboro early Wednesday.

Investigators said surveillance video led them to Legrand.

Police charged the 22-year-old with hindering apprehension, resisting arrest, conspiracy and other counts.

Police say troopers responded to a 911 call from the Wawa around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday. The first trooper on scene said he found Reginald McGlotten of Millsboro, Delaware, acting disorderly and shouting obscenities while appearing to be intoxicated.

Police say McGlotten refused to leave the store, so the trooper tried to take him into custody. The officer eventually got McGlotten onto the ground, but, as he tried to cuff him, other people in the Wawa began to pull the officer off his suspect, according to investigators.

McGlotten made a run for it. Soon after, another officer responding to the scene spotted the man and used a Taser to stun him into submission, according to state troopers.

Police also charged Thomas Purnell with conspiracy, resisting arrest and other offenses after he also allegedly helps McGlotten get away.
