The Delaware town of Selbyville has set a new drinking curfew in an effort to stem crime.

The town council has unanimously approved an ordinance that prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages after 11:30 p.m. and consumption after midnight.

Town officials say this ordinance is meant to help police by limiting late night problems, such as a stabbing last month at bar on U.S. Route 113.

The ordinance also provides definitions for a nightclub, bar, cocktail lounge and restaurant.
