Delaware Teen Girl Gets 16 Years in Prison for Carjacking, Kidnapping of Elderly Woman

A 15-year-old Delaware teen has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for her role in the carjacking and kidnapping of an 89-year-old woman.

The teen was charged as an adult and pleaded guilty to carjacking, kidnapping and conspiracy charges. She and three other teenagers were arrested last year.

Authorities say the 15-year-old girl and another teen stole Margaret Smith's car, shoved her in the trunk and kept her there without food or water for two days. They eventually abandoned the woman in Sussex County.

The other teen who stole the car pleaded guilty, and will be sentenced in December.

Two other teens who rode in the car have also been found guilty.
