Authorities issued new details on a Wilmington police shooting that left a man in critical condition, but are no longer saying the suspect fired first.
Authorities initially said an officer shot the man following a traffic stop Thursday after he opened fire on police.
But police said Tuesday only that the man, 24-year-old Marvin Jones, fought with officers as he got out of the car and pulled a 9MM handgun from his waistband.
Officials said Jones, a parolee from Georgia who remains hospitalized, posed a lethal threat, and that two officers shot at him.
Police said a second handgun was found in the car. Jones and 28-year-old Robert Carlisle, also of Georgia, are charged with several weapons offenses.
Carlisle remained in custody in lieu of $30,000 cash bail.
