Delaware Joggers Assaulted by Teens: Police

The victims were allegedly sprayed in the face with mace

Two joggers were allegedly assaulted by a pack of juveniles in a Delaware Park Monday afternoon.

The attacks happened just minutes apart at N Park Drive and N Van Buren Street, according to Wilmington Police.

A 26-year-old woman was jogging past the Brandywine Zoo around 5, when she was approached by a group of kids between the ages of 12 and 18, police said.

One of the juveniles sprayed her in the face with mace while another hit her head, shoulders and chest, cops said.

The attack ended when several witnesses -- who were driving by at the time of the assault -- came to her aid, authorities said.

The victim was transported to Wilmington Hospital.

Police later learned that about five minutes before the woman was attacked, the same group approached a 36-year-old jogger.

Luckily, the man had on sunglasses and didn't feel the full effects of the toxic mist when he was maced. He cleaned himself up before reporting the incident to police.

The attackers were still on the loose as of Tuesday afternoon.
