DUI Suspect Dies in 2-Story Fall at Delaware Prison

Police investigating death of Delaware inmate

Department of Corrections officials say a man being held at a Sussex County prison on drunken driving charges has died.

Authorities say 54-year-old Lloyd Lindner of Bridgeville arrived at the Sussex Correctional Institution on Saturday. He was taken to a local hospital later that day after falling from a second floor railing.

Officials say state police are investigating the death as an apparent suicide.

DOC spokeswoman Jayme Gravell said Lindner stood on top of a railing before falling head first to the floor below.

It's unclear how Lindner was able to get on top of the railing, but Gravell said prison staff asked him to get down before he fell.
