Alcohol Plays Role in Half of All Traffic Deaths in Delaware in 2014

Half of the traffic deaths in Delaware this year were alcohol related, said AAA Mid-Atlantic.

AAA spokesman Jim Lardear said 58 of the 124 traffic deaths in the state in 2014 were alcohol related.

WNOC-TV reported that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Delaware's rate is 47 percent higher than the national average.

Delaware officials said nearly 4,000 DUI arrests were made in the state this year.
