Del. to Open Privately Run Recycling Center

The center, which is the first of it's kind in the state, will create nearly 40 jobs

State environmental officials have issued a permit for the first privately run recycling center in Delaware.

Officials say Blue River Resources LLC will sort and separate single-stream recyclables at a former tire recycling center in south Wilmington and then market the materials to commodity buyers or recycling processors.

The permit enables Blue River to take deliveries from as far as 50 miles away, which could include parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey.

The facility is permitted to accept up to 4,500 tons per week of single-stream recyclables, including paper, cardboard, plastic, metal and glass.

Officials say up to 40 jobs will be created at Blue River for preparing the recyclables for markets.
