Del. Woman Abducted While Walking Dog: Cops

Unclear if woman's body found nearby is that of abducted woman

Wilmington, Del. Police believe a woman who was walking her dog around 9 Monday morning in the Brandywine Hills neighborhood was abducted by a person driving a red Hummer.

Police received a call 9:30 a.m. from a person who heard screeching tires and then saw a black man in his 30s putting something in the driver’s side rear door of the red Hummer at the intersection of Lowell Road and Matson Run Parkway.

When police arrived they found articles of clothing at the intersection, as well as another witness who confirmed what the first witness said.

As police were trying to put the pieces together, a man reported his wife, Marsha Lee, missing at 10 a.m. The resident of the 4400 block of Whittier Road told police that Lee went out to walk the dog at about 9 a.m. as he was leaving for an appointment. Lee's husband told police that when he got home the dog was home, running loose, but his wife was nowhere to be found.

The man identified the clothing found in the road as that of his 65-year-old wife. Lee is described as a 5-foot-6, 140-pound woman.

On Monday night police pulled over a red SUV on Lea Boulevard that matched the description of the Red Hummer, neighbors said. But it wasn't immediately clear if that vehicle was the SUV involved.

Anyone with information should contact Det. Scott Chaffin at 302.576.3682 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.

Around 9:50 p.m. police said that they found the body of a woman in a DelDOT lot near I-95 and Talley Road near Brandywine Hills.

There was no word that Lee was in any way connected to the body that was found. Police didn't identify the deceased woman and said the investigation was ongoing.
