Del. Police Investigate Tire Slashings

11 vehicles hit in Claymont

Delaware State Police are investigating a series of tire slashings in Claymont that took place Saturday night.

Police say that a total of eleven separate vehicles were damaged between the 500 and 900 blocks of Harvey Road. Authorities say that the sidewalls of the tires were cut, making them impossible to repair. The affected cars were either parked on the street or in driveways.

It is not known at this time if the slashings are related to the ongoing occurrences of tire vandalism in Philadelphia. Several dozen vehicles have had their tires slashed in the Mayfair, Tacony, and Oxford Circle neighborhoods since February. A suspect in those incidents was arrested this week.
