Man Arrested for Beating of 83-Year-Old

Wilmington police have charged a New Castle man with robbery after an 83-year-old man was beaten in a drugstore.

It happened about 2 p.m. Thursday in the CVS on Delaware Avenue. Police say the suspect beat the victim, knocking him to the ground, and stole his possessions.

Police say the suspect fled on foot, but witnesses spotted and officers took him into custody.

Thirty-one-year-old Marsaan Newman has been charged in the robbery. The victim was treated and released at a local hospital.
