Police have arrested a Bear man and charged him with impersonating a police officer after the man attempted to perform a vehicle stop

New Castle County Police have arrested a Bear man and charged him with impersonating a police officer after the man attempted to perform a vehicle stop.

Investigators say that Javon Redden, 22,  threatened his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend over the phone before showing up at his ex-girlfriend's home in Chelsea Estates shortly before the 19-year-old victim arrived.

The victim left the area, but Redden followed him onto northbound Route 141. At some point during the chase, Redden activated the red and blue LED lights and strobe lights on his black Dodge Durango and attempted to get the victim to stop. Investigators say that Redden's lights remained activated for a distance of two miles before the victim was able to get away.

Redden was arrested by police upon his return to Chelsea Estates and police found the strobe light during a search of his vehicle.

Redden is charged with criminal impersonation of a police officer, second-degree reckless endangering, and terroristic threatening.
