Del. Girl Sexually Assaulted on Way Home From School

Manhunt is on after man allegedly attacks girl

New Castle County Police say a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a town home community after returning home from school Wednesday.

The girl had just gotten off the school bus and was walking behind townhouses in the Christiana Green community when a man on the edge of the woods allegedly grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her about 3 p.m. Wednesday, cops said.

Authorities say the girl fought off her attacker, who fled on foot toward Old Baltimore Pike.

The girl ran to a neighbors for help leaving her backpack by the woods, police said.

The victim was not injured.

Children are often outside their homes in the community leaving the community to wonder if the alleged attacker might be watching them, said neighbors.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call (302) 395-8110.
